ANG ZORRO NG SINGAPORE

118-1882_IMG

dear mommy,

VITAL STATISTICS

for the first time yesterday, inacknowledge ng mga newspapers dito sa singapore ang contribution ng foreign nurses laban sa SARS. it’s about time. hirap kasi rito minsan, puro sarili nilang iniisip eh. may mga tao kasi rito na sobrang yabang, akala nila umiikot ang mundo sa singapore.

consider this: 49 nurses na ang nagkaroon ng SARS dito sa singapore. nakuha nilang lahat ito sa trabaho. out of the 49 nurses, 20 dito ang non-singaporean. ibig sabihin 41% ng may SARS na nurses ay foreigner. out of this 20 foreign nurses, 10 ang pinay. this is 50% of all foreign nurses or if you look at the total, 20% of all infected nurses. malupit. ano ang kapalit nito?

Singapore SARS Update News Flash

In fact, this past 2 days, wala nang bagong SARS case sa buong Sinagapore. Kailangan ng 2 complete cycles para masabing totally controlled (which is 20 days). So, we have 18 more days bago may “ALL CLEAR”. Sana tuloy-tuloy na para makauwi ng Pilipinas sa June… isang tanginangtanga lang kasi ang kailangang maka hawa, and then we’re all back to square 1.

BALITANG SINGAPORE

MABUHAY! (o may sumagot pa!)

My Twice Daily Temperature Readings

there’s this john denver song called “i want to live”. it’s not one of his best songs and i find some of the lyrics so melodramatic (e.g. “Have you watched the dolphins frolic in the foam”). but it’s a song i like to listen to nonetheless, because it reminds me of my dad. well, it’s one of the songs that remind me of my dad.

Memories of PinoyRock, Part 1

my best pinoy rock moment is very intimate. it was the time when pepe came to our house during my birthday many years ago. he came with my brother and his wife. after a few beers, we jammed and he sang an acoustic cover of the doors’ “riders on the storm”.

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

many years later, my friends and i still talk about this great event that spiced up our rather boring lives. hehehe. and so, my great big wish before i move on to that great big gig in the sky: i want to spend one of my birthdays jamming with with the jerks, binky lampano, sampaguita and pepe smith.

HOW YOU GONNA SEE ME NOW?

FROM THE INSIDE BY ALICE COOPER, and the song i always hum when i’m on the outside

in 1978, alice cooper released an album called “from the inside”. it was the album he produced right after going into rehab for alcoholism. one of the songs there is a sweet ballad called “how you gonna see me now”. it tells about a man’s apprehensions about going back to his wife after screwing up both their lives. he’s wondering if he’ll be accepted and if it will still be the same again. been to hell and back, honey. fade to black?

You got to roll me and call me the tumblin’ dice
