nag register na ako para sa rock and roll marathon sa san diego itong darating na june 1st. excited ako at takot at the same time. outside of kinky sex kasi, ngayon lang ako magiging involved sa isang extreme endeavor na kakailanganin ang aking physical capabilities.
wala naman akong ilusyon na manalo. i just hope to finish the race under 5 and a half hours. tangina, sana hindi ako mag fuck up para naman maitaas ko ang bandera ng lahat ng mga 42 year old diabetic pero pogi naman na pilipino sa buong mundo.
if you’d asked me ten years ago if i would consider running a full marathon, i would have said “are you fucking nuts?” look at me now preparing for a long long race. ha!
I know you are working hard to prepare for this Pa. Whichever way it goes, I know you will do me proud.
Labyu!
thank you mylab. buti na lang nariyan ka. lab U 2.
salamat nga pala pre s inyo ni Jet,ingat s nalalapit mog takbo.
Good luck!! Kayang-kaya mo iyan!!
thank you.
Pareng Eder! punta kayo rito, panoorin ninyo ako. happy birthday ulit.
wow jay, really impressive. i love your subdomain, too, kalsada. galing talaga. π
sorry for my… inarticulate comment. so many words tumbling around in my head pero wala akong ma put together na matino. kaya dapat hanggang WOW na lang ako. but i’ll save that for the marathon. you go rocking, jay!
rock on, unkyel! you make us all proud!!
thank you, mye and SR. i did 8 miles today, my longest run so far.
kalsada is my “on the road” blog. mostly short quips about walking, running and cycling. it’s also where i put my marathon training notes.
idol batjay
when i read this post…i thought 5KM run…..pakengshet men, 5 hrs run!!
…gud luck bai. lalo mo ako pinahanga…..
salamat. 5 km – yon ang dati kong regular na takbo ko to keep me in shape. naka training mode na ako ngayon kaya tumataas na every week ang mileage ko.
Good luck bosing. By inishing the marathon is an accomplishment in itself. Hindi biro ang preparation nyan. You are already a winner in the sense that you become a lot healthier. Lumakas ang stamina, tumibay ang mga buto, at naglakihan lalo ang muscles. Considering the age, not bad at all.
oo nga sir, parati kong naririnig sa mga kaibigan kong nakatakbo na ng marathon na yung preparation itself is the most difficult of all. if you’ve trained properly, the marathon itself is the easiest part.
wala akong masasabi kundi…Takbo, Batjay, daliiiii!!! π
matagal na pong tumatakbo
congratulations on taking that first step (registration) and welcome to the crazy world of long distance running! in the next few months, halo-halong emotions ang mararamdaman mo…excitement, takot, anxiety, etc…at saka siyempre pagod at gutom (although hindi naman emotions ito :=) )! but it’s all good…as you increase your mileage (anong program nga pala ang sinusunod mo or sumali ka ba ng running group?) every week after the long runs, napaka-accomplished ng feeling…ay, don’t forget the ice bath after – malaking tulong…at saka IB-relief din pala – may pagka-voodoo ang dating nitong ointment na ito kasi tanggal lahat ng sakit…at saka get ready to be addicted…parang pringles ito, once you pop you can’t stop…ang mahalaga, you enjoy the running! good luck on your training!!! maybe someday eh magkita tayo sa isang marathon somewhere…
thank you sa mga tip. sinusunod ko lang yung training program na ginamit ng project nova sa pag train sa boston marathon. this weekend, i go up to 10 miles.
going into week 4 of my training this sunday.
My sister, Daisy, mentioned that you will be running the San Diego Marathon. It’s good to know that a fellow Notre Damer will be in it, too. I joined The Leukemia and Lymphona Society’s Team In Training group 3 weeks ago. We meet at Yorba Regional Park sa Anaheim every Saturday at 7 am and do our practice runs. Last Saturday, we ran 5 miles. We increase our mileage every week. Sa last practice run namin, it will be 20 miles. I think we’ll hit the double-digits in about 3 more weeks. Mukhang ready ka na sa marathon ( I checked your surf city blog ). One of our mentors also ran sa Surf City and she mentioned the horrible weather conditions. Gano’n talaga, rain or shine, you have to be ready… no excuses!
I welcome any tips/suggestions you may have preparing for this grueling event….
hey richy.
i think joining a training group helps a lot. i am sure na by now, mayroon ka nang training schedule. mayroon ka na rin sigurong advise tungkol sa stretching, exercise at diet. para sa akin, ang pinaka mahirap sa lahat ay ang pag disiplina sa pag prepare for the marathon. once you get that and you do all what you’re supposed to do, you shouldn’t have any problems.
good luck,
