  1. ….but that’s not whole wheat though, unkyel, ok lang?

my concern about reduced fat and sugar free stuff, unkyel is that a lot of them are substitute of the real thing…and most are stuff i cant even read or pronounce(im just naturally dumb, anyways)….is that still kewl?….i mean the artificial stuff, not me being dumb, of course.

  2. If I may Mye…

Yes, that is whole wheat – Sara Lee’s 100% Whole Wheat Soft and Smooth.

And yes, there are studies advocating some of these sugar substitutes as unsafe. In fact, it is because of this that I have stopped using Equal. There is the ingredient called aspartame that seems to be the bad guy found in Equal and in most other sugar substitutes. Splenda doesn’t have that though, and that’s what we’re using now. The Smucker’s Strawberry Preserves that we get is the kind made with Splenda. Smucker’s gives you a choice between Splenda and Nutrasweet.

  3. I’m glad Jet discussed the difference between Equal and Splenda. I’ve long stopped using Equal in favor of Splenda. Siguro ilang years na rin. I also come from a family of diabetics and as you said, maganda talaga ang prescribed diet ng diabetic. Wala pa akong diabetes and I hope I won’t get it. What I’ve done is incorporate into my daily diet the recommendations that doctors give my relatives. I’ve reduced my carb and salt intake. Good thing na hindi ako mahilig sa mga desserts na matatamis so hindi ako gaano lumalamon ng mga cakes and pies. Pero ang area for improvement ko is in the area of soda intake. I should kick that habit talaga.

  4. thank you so much, auntie. also, would there be a difference between taking splenda and the turbinado or sugar in the raw for diabetics? i know it’s not as sweet as a pinch of splenda. im trying to subscribe to the diebetic’s diet…..it’s hard. it’s easier to gorge on the heart attack diet. i am having a hard time trying to change my family’s diet. i know it has to come from me.

    thank you auntie and unkyel.

  5. you know it just dawned on me that they don’t use turbinado on any of the stuff out there. almost everything has artificial sweeteners.

Sigurado hindi na ganyan ang pagi -isip ko pag dating ng panahon when all of it catches up to my physique. I’ll be old fat and sick.

  8. One of my resolutions this year is to lose weight. I have gained 15lbs. during the past year. Now I’m also tryin’ to watch my diet.

I’m taking oatmeal and whey protein for breakfast. Minsan whole wheat bread din with Skippy Reduced Fat Peanut Butter. = P

  9. yan na uso ngayon dito mari. wheat bread na mukhang white bread. marami kasing turned-off sa regular wheat bread dahil rough at dry ang lasa. this one tastes like the real thing.

good luck sa pag diet GD, try what we eat – yung soft and smooth wheat bread is white and taste like normal bread.

  10. problema talaga ang magkaron ng diabetes. Take it from me.

I take to my father a lot so I have a high chance of acquiring Type 2 in old age.

  13. gumagamit ako ng splenda pero may after taste to unlike sugar, pero no choice, mataas ang blood sugar 😦 buti pa sa US maraming variety of foods para sa mga diabetic, dito sa pinas konti na mahal pa! 😦 by the way, bumili ako ng kwentong tambay, galing! ang ganda.. kudos to you! πŸ™‚

  14. Bossing, successful din ang south beach diet ko, which is a diabetic’s diet. Di naman ako hypertensive or diabetic but the diet helped me gain my old weight (and dress size), and made me feel good overall. Tama ka, ang bilis makaliit nang tyan.

Ang kulang na lang sa akin, unlike you, is disiplina to maintain a healthy regime & exercise.

  15. hehey, good for you auee.

samahan mo ng exercise and you’ll find out na mas mabilis ang weight loss, not to mention better overall feeling, better sex life, better stamina. ok lang naman to enjoy the food once in a while. kumakain din kami ni jet ng white rice at sweets pag may okasyon. ang importante, make the program part of your routine para kung mag miss ka, siguradong babalik ka rin sa good habits right after.

  16. unkyel jay, nag wowork out ako ngayon na never kong ginawa sa entire beautiful life ko. kasi my bro was diagnosed with diabetes genetic inheritance kasi namin and diabetes. but for God’s sake i can’t do dieting, that word is a blasphemy to me. para akong hinihila ng masamang ispiritu kapag nakakita ako ng lechon, crispy pata, kare-kare, kaldereta at etc… parang binabangungot ako pag-iniisip ko ang salitanfg diet. gosshhhh, ang hirap!
