LOOKING OUT FOR NUMBER 1

dalawa ang school of utot (sa aking pananaw) sa pagsulat ng blog entry. isa ay ang mahaba in the tradition of my wife jet, ate sienna and the prolific sassy lawyer. at isa ang maikli in the style of the renaissance girl. all of them are great because they all write well. sila ang mga sample ng mga idol kong manunulat. siyempre biased ako sa mylab ko. para sa akin ay siya ang da best. hehe. pero talaga namang ok na writer si jet. better than i could ever be.

nabanggit ko ang great writers, kasi na special mention ang site ko ng isa sa kanila. maraming salamat kay “Renaissance Girl” mona para sa pag feature ng site ko. kaya pala biglang dumami ang aking hits. hehe. natuwa ako kasi matagal ko nang binabasa ang site niya and i am a big fan. magaling kasi siyang magsulat: short entries na engaging, interesting at nakakatawa in an intelligent way. and she does it well. para sa akin, one of the best writers in the pinoy blogging world. go and visit her site and find out. hindi ninyo makikita roon ang mga walang kamatayang entrada na kinaiinisan ko: “i have nothing to write so i will just talk about my nose”, or, “nothing happened today so i am writing about the scabs of my surgery wound”. kung wala ka rin lang namang masasabi eh di, you know, huwag mo na lang sabihin.

  1. mutual admiration society! haha

uy, agree ako sa iyo! although, she wouldn’t mention your blog kung di ka din ok sumulat. katawa at engaging. kwentong barbero pero may truth din.

  2. hi melissa. uy, you agree… spin a win! kwentong barbero ba? di ako marunong mag gupit pero gusto kong mag aral mag kulot.

salamat. ganoon din sa iyo. magaling ka ring magsulat at walang kyeme. parang kapeng barako. i like, siyempre.

ayan. how’s that for a mutual admiration society that’s come full circle.

  3. I totally agree. I always visit the Renaissance girl. As a matter of fact, it’s from that site that I discovered yours. And just like i did with your site, reading all the entries i missed, I have gone through all the entries in her site, too. Di pa ko marunong ng blog protocol nun. i linked her with my other site without her permission. hehe Sana wag magalit.

  4. I like her corporate slave blogs. It reminded me of my past when I was one in the Phils. I just can’t blog it; too many memories..I am planning to go back to the country in the near future.

    What attracts me in sassy, anp and mona’s posts is the “T” factor as in TARAY. Makikipagpukpukan ng sapatos pag nainis.Iba-iba nga lang sapatos;
boots sa akin, kay Mona ay high heels, si anp siguro ay canvas shoes at si Sassy ay pump shoes.

But of course ,I like reading jet’s posts on her married life to a Peter Pan.(instead of flying, he rides a bicycle).

  5. wala eh.. sikat ka na talaga… baka pag nagkita ulit tayo, i’d have to demand an autographed whatever na 😀

but seriously… you won’t have many people commenting on your posts if they don’t find you a good read!

  7. hi mona.

thank you for your post about my site. nakakataba ng puso kasi galing sa iyo. like i said, i’m your number 1 fan and that’s the truth. sana nga mas marami kang post but i know your busy with your business.

    cheers!
    jay

  8. There is nothing wrong with writing about one’s nose or one’s wound. I am a writer too, and a professional one at that. We writers have the right to express what we want to express and you readers have the right to choose what you read but don’t criticize the author for writing about his nose or his wound. Consider this: It’s not easy writing about the human probosces is it? I mean, what can you say about it in order to make the article interesting enough? Plus, if the author manages to whip up a piece that’s creative, imaginative, and intelligent at the same time, that just shows the author is really talented right? I once applied for a writing job at Insular Life. They asked me to write something. As subject matter, I chose the seemingly insignificant paper clip. You know what? I was hired! So you see, there is absolutely nothing wrong with writing about mundane things like your nose or your wound. It’s just for a blog site anyway, not for the Palanca or the Pulitzer.

  9. but you miss the point, miss gigi.

i am talking about people who have really nothing to say, so they write mediocre and boring entries. i’m sure you can write a good piece about the good old insignificant paper clip and it might even win you the pulitzer prize. you will do a good job because you will make sure that it is written with the passion of a good professional writer that you are.

now my idol mona – she is really a good writer and could probably write a funny article about a paper clip that turned into a toothpick.
