not only americans do noticed that we pinoys speak and write the english language perhaps even better than them. pinoys also know nihonggo, german, arabic, chinese (3), spanish and almost all the languanges of the world because pinoys are all around the world and we easily adapt. and that’s what i am very proud of!!!
basta as long as pareho kulay ng baraso at betlog mo at kilala mo na si dr. jose rizal ang national hero natin eh PINOY ka nga talaga. MABUHAY!
Produkto kasi ng Notre Dame, eh! (I remember Ms. Danao and Mr. Asibal; the first one was fixated on sex, the other one taught us about Beowulf with a Visayan accent…)
Hello, long time no write, Jay! (Trabaho, pamilya, you know the drill…)
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that remark, I’d have….less than five dollars, hehehe. But seriously, it’s flattering to be the go-to person for spelling and grammar wherever I worked. I’d be the first to admit that I’m hardly an authority on both subjects; I just know enough to be dangerous! Still, I can’t help but feel superior every time I had to explain to a native speaker what a dangling modifier is as I watch their eyes glaze over (because they didn’t have Mr. Asibal as their English teacher!)…
Taga-doon: “How long you been here?”
Hubby: “Three years.”
Taga-doon: “Ohh, so you learn English here ah?”
Hubby: “Umm, actually I UNLEARNED my English here! hahaha”
he he, wat dey tink op u, tinking op dem?
perhaps
“Wow, you speak good English!”
Ang maiging sagot dyan e: “So, do you, where did you learn yours?” : )
hahaha

bwehehehe. they mean well, medyo english-centric lang ng kaunti.
hehe 😛
pwede rin sagot ang “because I am, so i can!” haha
i speak, therefore i am
whatever, yaya… lol
how about this:
Me: do you know that the word ‘gullible’ is not in the English dictionary? (a prank, clearly)
English-speaking native: well maybe because it’s not an English word
thank you, same to you.

I think it is an honest compliment from those who do not know any better.. be magnanimous, just say “Thank you”.
no thank you.
no thank you, har har har har!
i can’t stand texter language

“so do you” nga ang pinaka ok na short reply.
hehehehe. sabi nga ng mga singaporean: don’t like that.
