The haunting hunted kind

dear unkyel batjay,

ingat,

  1. i have nothing against it..siguro dahil isa kasi yung bahagi ng kultura ng Pilipino..Although for others wala naman talaga itong basis for salvation..Do you believe in Jesus Christ tito Batjay? Why?Why not? in what way??

  2. yung flagellation na pag penitensya is a very ancient tradition. in my mind, a physical taking away of guilt. yung mga shia muslim, may similar din na practice.

  4. tama naman ang DOH. if you’re going to flog yourself in the middle of the day, you might as well wear sun block. at the very least, kung mag kakaroon ka ng sugat, siguradong hindi ito dahil sa sun burn.

i love the last sentence in the AFP article:

“The health department has also warned that the six-inch (15-centimetre) nails used in crucifixions should be sterilised.”

only in the philippines could this make sense.

  5. They should do a research on how many people get infected or are taken ill due to the practise.

  9. may the blessed holy week gives us the true meaning of Jesus Christ’s suffering on the cross so we may be saved from sins. Happy Easter!

Brod, pagans do have gods (stones, gold images and the like which they worshipped) but atheist like most americans don’t have. I hope you won’t be sucked to their ways. God bless.

  10. Siguro tama si unkyel.Physical manifestation of guilt and sacrifice lang ang pag pepenitensya.

  11. Ay oo nga pala. Mabuti nga at na-retain pa natin ang ibang tradition and practices natin. It’s part of what makes us truly Pinoy.

It’s either that or subconsciously there lurks a masochist inside us.

    “I dreamed I met a Galilean,
    A most amazing man,
    He has that look,
    Rarely, rarely find….”

I got an LP, the Broadway version.

  13. Wow, ala Barry White doing a ballad. You rock man!

Your rendition and outfit brings back memories. During college days, my friends and I often went to Father Moustache in Ermita after our finals to unwind. I always fell nostalgic when ever I hear those classics.

    Thanks Jay
